Many of PSI's trauma surgeons and trauma physicians work in trauma centers or hospitals to provide surgical critical care to hospital patients and address injuries to the neck, chest, abdomen, and extremities (other than fractures). They are familiar with a large variety of general surgical, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, initial assessments, minor invasive procedures, addressing changes in condition, and responding to codes. In addition, several of the hospitals are level II or III trauma centers, which our physicians also help cover. In providing this type of coverage, patients are given immediate attention when their attending is not available.
