Q: What services does Physician Staffing provide to hospitals and healthcare facilities?
A: We provide hospital-based physician staffing services and clinical outsourcing services.
Q: What types of job opportunities are available to physicians?
A: PSI provides doctors with hospital-based job opportunities and offers paid malpractice, no on-call and scheduling flexibility. We provide jobs to over 250 doctors including OB/GYN physicians, trauma surgeons, hospitalists, intensivists, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, general surgeons, and pre-admission testing physicians. PSI offers doctors the ideal opportunity to utilize their medical expertise while maintaining a quality of life that is not always possible in a private practice.
Q: Is a physician moonlighting position right for me?
A: You can improve your medical skills and increase your income by moonlighting. "Moonlighting" often means that a doctor is working at more than one job. “Moonlighting” is not unique to healthcare providers, doctors and physicians. It is fairly common for new doctors and residents to learn their profession and provide extra income. Q:Are all of your internal medicine positions Hospitalists?
A: Although some facilities refer to their inpatient coverage programs as hospitalists, we prefer to reserve that term for our true "inpatient only" medical practices. Our positions that are listed as internal medicine are house physician opportunities. Our physicians work in the hospital in conjunction with the patients' attending physicians. They respond to codes and changes in patient condition.
These positions allow for an exceptional quality of life because there are no "on call" requirements, and by working just two 24-hour shifts in a week, physicians can earn a six figure income.
Q: Are there Full and Part-Time Opportunities?
A: Yes. Physicians working through us full time make an annual commitment to work at least 48 hours a week. Most of our house staff programs are scheduled in 12-hour shifts. That gives the physician the option to work four 12-hour shifts or two 24-hour shifts. Part time Physicians can generally work as much or as little as they choose, based on availability.
Q: Where in the United States are these positions located?
A: Most of our current contracts are in Northeastern and Central Ohio. Our business is always expanding and opportunities may arise in other parts of the United States.
Q: What is required in the privileging process and how long will the entire process take?
A: Because we follow the Joint Commission guidelines for credentialing, the process is very thorough. On average, it takes six to eight weeks. Each physician must provide copies of a valid state license and DEA Certification along with credentials specific to each specialty.
Q: How does the scheduling work?
A: We prepare the schedule on a monthly basis. Each physician submits his or her availability by the 15th of the preceding month and our scheduling department completes the next month's schedule by the 25th of each month.
Q: What is the earning potential of these positions?
A: Our rates are extremely competitive. By working the minimum number of shifts required in a full-time position, a physician can earn an excellent income and maintain an exceptional quality of life. Because the rates vary by facility and specialty, we generally discuss earning potential individually.
Q: What are the general duties of these positions?
A: Of course there is variation by specialty, but generally, our physicians are in the facility to respond to codes and changes in patient condition and coordinate the care of the patients in the absence of the attending physicians.
Q: Would I be employed by Physician Staffing?
A: Because our physicians enjoy the flexibility of our positions, each practitioner is considered an independent contractor. We do procure malpractice coverage on behalf of our physicians.
Q: Could I talk with someone currently working through Physician Staffing?
A: We would be happy to put you in contact with other physicians in your specialty that currently work through Physician Staffing. They can provide valuable information about our opportunities and share their personal experience with you.
